SHANGHAI - In celebration of the romantic and heroic stories of 10 couples from Renji Hospital who fought fearlessly in Wuhan during the COVID-19 outbreak and delayed their wedding dates to serve their communities first, Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund hosted an unforgettable group wedding on May 1 in its Shanghai Club Ballroom.
The ceremony of a lifetime was hosted at exclusive No. 2 on the Bund. Ten couples said “I Do” before their closest guests and friends, since social distancing is still advised.
“We are very proud to offer the most iconic venue and dedicated services that bring memorable sparkles to the medical heroes’ most significant moments in life,” said Mr. Richard Saul, General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. “We want to express our sincere gratitude to these true heroes who protect and save people’s lives with selfless efforts.”
To ensure the wedding at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund proceeded smoothly, the hotel took preventive measures seriously, such as requiring all guests and team members to wear masks in the public areas, placing hand sanitizer in almost every corner across the property and increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfection.
To create unforgettable memories for the newlyweds on the special day, Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund not only customized an elegant wedding cake for the ceremony and arranged graceful decorations in the rooms where they stayed, but also shared a sincere video produced by hotel team members who wished all the best for the medical heroes in their new life journey. On this particular occasion, bridal couples (including one or two medical workers) in the city with confirmed wedding dates within 2020 will receive an additional one-night stay in Bund Heritage Suite in the hotel’s 100-year-old Heritage Building to celebrate their one-year anniversary.
Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund also extends the appreciation and gratitude to all medical workers in Shanghai with a special offer: a 20 percent discount in the hotel’s restaurants and lounge from now until 31 December, 2020.
The medical heroes in the city are entitled to enjoy the special dining offer with up to six friends and family members, including but not limited to gourmet global cuisine at the Grand Brasserie, classic red velvet cake afternoon tea at Peacock Alley and Salon de Ville, luscious cocktails at the iconic Long Bar and authentic Shanghainese and Cantonese cuisine at Wei Jing Ge.
