Waldorf Astoria Reaffirms Its Culinary Excellence With Two More Michelin Plate Awards

Waldorf Astoria Beijing’s Brasserie 1893 and Zijin Mansion Each Received the Esteemed Honor This Year

BEIJING and MCLEAN, Va. - Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts is honored to announce that the renowned global culinary experts of the Michelin Guide have awarded a Michelin Plate to two of Waldorf Astoria Beijing’s fine dining establishments, Brasserie 1893 and Zijin Mansion. These two awards are a testament to Waldorf Astoria’s sustained efforts to provide unparalleled service and culinary excellence for all guests.

Known for celebrating a rich and diverse culinary heritage, Waldorf Astoria is home to a number of award-winning dining establishments worldwide, many of which are led by culinary experts of the Michelin Guide. This includes the Gordon Ramsay au Trianon restaurant at Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Versailles and Spectrum at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, which were both honored Michelin stars, and the renowned La Pergola of Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which was conferred the highest rating of three Michelin stars. Adding to the brand’s growing list of accolades, Waldorf Astoria Beijing has joined the ranks of iconic Front Room at Waldorf Astoria Bangkok and fine dining restaurants Wei Jing Ge and Pelham’s at Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund as recipients of the acclaimed Michelin Plate award, with its classic French cuisine restaurant Brasserie 1893 and Chinese fine dining destination Zijin Mansion — famed for adding a touch of modern twist to traditional Cantonese and Peking classics. The latest Michelin honors are undoubtedly yet another nod of approval by the very best in the industry and testament to the Waldorf Astoria brand’s sustained efforts in providing unforgettable culinary experiences for its guests.

“The Waldorf Astoria brand’s culinary focus dates back to the glamour and elegance of 1890s New York and continues today,” says Wendy Huang, senior vice president and commercial director, Greater China & Mongolia, Hilton. “In keeping with this tradition, both Brasserie 1893 and Zijin Mansion are pioneers in gastronomy, honoring the Waldorf Astoria brand’s long history of fine dining while using modern techniques and innovative ingredients to specifically cater to the aesthetics and palate of the China market. It is this innovation that we believe has led the Michelin experts to honor us.”

Waldorf Astoria has a long and potent history in the culinary world. The brand built culinary equity by developing dishes like Red Velvet Cake, Eggs Benedict and the Waldorf Salad. The Michelin Guide’s choice to honor both the authentic French fine dining at Brasserie 1893 and the exquisite traditional Chinese cuisine at Zijin Mansion proves that Waldorf Astoria is committed to providing unparalleled culinary excellence, bespoke service and modern luxury to its valued guests. Since the first Waldorf Astoria New York flagship hotel opened in 1893, the Waldorf Astoria brand has been synonymous with a culture of legendary service and reminiscent of an era indulged in timeless elegance and ultimate pursuits. The portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts under the Waldorf Astoria brand shall continue to embrace the brand concept of “True Waldorf Service” and endeavor to make each stay a truly unique and unforgettable experience for all guests.
