Waldorf Astoria Park City Welcomes New Executive Chef
PARK CITY, Utah - Waldorf Astoria Park City is pleased to formally welcome Executive Chef Hermann Schaefer as the leader of the property’s culinary team. In his new role, Chef Schaefer will oversee the resort’s culinary team, including Powder, the hotel’s signature restaurant.
“We are thrilled to have Chef Hermann leading our culinary team here at Waldorf Astoria Park City,” said Kerry Hing, general manager of Waldorf Astoria Park City. “We are eager for him to share his incredible talent for creating unique and delicious dishes with our guests.”
Chef Hermann joins Waldorf Astoria Park City with more than 30 years of culinary experience. As the child of restaurant-owning parents, Schaefer’s passion for food developed at a young age. Born and raised in Austria, he began his career with a three-year apprenticeship at the Grand Hotel Sauerhof, one of Austria’s finest five-star luxury hotels. In 1994, he moved to the United States and has since worked in various roles at a number of hotels and restaurants, including the Anaheim Hilton and Towers and Bistango Restaurant in Orange County. Most recently, he served as executive chef and director of food and beverage at the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa.
Powder is Waldorf Astoria Park City’s signature restaurant, offering a modern twist on mountain cuisine. Powder’s menu rotates seasonally to feature dishes that incorporate the area’s finest local ingredients. The restaurant’s atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, making it the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or an après ski beverage with friends.
In addition to the culinary news, in late October of 2018, Waldorf Astoria Park City received several of the world’s top travel awards — ‘Best Spa in North America’ from The World Spa Awards and ‘Top Ten Resorts in the West’ from Condé Nast Travelers’ Readers’ Choice Awards.
