ADELAIDE, Australia - The hotel stays of Adelaide visitors just got easier, as the smartphone just got smarter. Beginning today, Hilton Honors members staying at the Hilton Adelaide can consider their phone as not just their direction-finder or reservation-maker, but as the key — literally — to their hotel stay. Hilton Adelaide has completed its Digital Key implementation for its 377 guest rooms, giving Adelaide visitors unprecedented convenience and control — all via the Hilton Honors app.
The process is easy. Within 24 hours of arrival, Hilton Honors members who book direct through Hilton’s channels can digitally check-in, choose their exact room from a digital floor plan and request a Digital Key through the Honors app. Hilton Adelaide will notify guests via the app as soon as their room is ready. Honors members with previous stay history can then head straight to their room when they arrive, pressing the virtual “unlock” button on the app when they’re within five feet of their door.
Hilton Adelaide joins a growing list of Hilton hotels that have made this high-tech transformation, including six other properties across Australasia, and, by the end of 2020, 17 properties in the region are forecasted to have Digital Key activated.

As a benefit available only to Hilton Honors members, Digital Key builds upon the suite of digital features guests staying at Hilton Adelaide already enjoy including the digital check-in and room selection. “We expect that the convenience of this new initiative will be a popular choice when booking Hilton Adelaide in the future.” added Mr. Hallam.
The rollout of Digital Key is stage one of Hilton Adelaide’s investment into new technology to eventually establish ‘Connected Room’, which gives guests the ability to control the room temperature, blinds and the TV in their room. At the end of 2019, 450 new Smart TV’s were installed which will soon be offering casting capabilities.
Digital Key, digital check-in with room selection and arrival requests are benefits only available to Hilton Honors members who book directly through Hilton’s brand websites, award-winning mobile app, reservation call centres or preferred corporate travel partners and professionals.
The Hilton Honors loyalty program is open to all guests and free to join.
