Hilton Worldwide Awards Travel With Purpose® Action Grant To Hilton Warwick/Stratford Upon Avon
$1,000 Grant to Support Living Sustainability Courtyard Project
WARWICK/STRATFORD UPON AVON, UK - Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) has awarded Hilton Warwick/Stratford Upon Avon a $1,000 Travel with Purpose® Action Grant. The funds will be used to revamp a small courtyard where the hotel plans to grow its own fruit and vegetables and plant a herb garden. The hotel's Blue Energy team will be involved in maintaining this area year-round. This project aims to sustainably impact the cost of the hotel's waste whilst also positively motivating team members. Guests will be informed of this initiative via menus and social media channels.
The Travel with Purpose Action Grant programme, launched in 2013, is part of Hilton Worldwide's portfolio of hotels' global effort to support the development of local solutions and strengthen the quality of life in the communities Hilton Worldwide serves. More than $150,000 was awarded this year to 62 properties throughout the Hilton Worldwide portfolio and community organizations around the world as part of the Travel with Purpose Action Grant programme.
This grant provides funds directly to the Hilton Warwick/Stratford Upon Avon for an on-site project that supports Living Sustainably, one of Hilton Worldwide's four corporate responsibility focus areas. Seven of this year's 62 Action Grant recipients are completing creative on-site Living Sustainably projects that empower properties to meet shared business and social objectives while also making a conscious effort at improving the environment.
All Travel with Purpose Action Grants support projects which are aligned with Hilton Worldwide's four corporate responsibility focus areas:
- Creating Opportunities: includes programs focusing on youth development, career mentoring and workforce development in hospitality training with a focus on disadvantaged populations; promotion of diversity in our workforce, owners, and suppliers;
- Strengthening Communities: includes projects that support sustainable economic growth by increasing opportunities for emerging local businesses to succeed in the global value chain; disaster preparation and resiliency; critical services including housing and hunger/ hunger/food insecurity; prevention of child trafficking and support services for survivors;
- Celebrating Cultures: includes education programs that foster cultural heritage, preservation and restoration of historic or cultural monuments; projects that bridge diverse cultures and foster inclusiveness and diplomacy; support for local sourcing and goods;
- Living Sustainability: includes projects that assist in the protection, conservation and restoration of natural resources and habitats; projects that educate and inform the public about sustainability; support for sustainable sourcing and purchasing.
