Hilton Expands Resort Offering on the Adriatic Coast
Hilton Costabella Beach Resort and Spa due to open in 2020
RIJEKA, Croatia and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE:HLT) today announced plans to open a new resort hotel on Croatia’s Adriatic coast following the signing of an agreement to manage the property on behalf of JTH Costabella d.o.o. Hilton Costabella Beach Resort and Spa, owned by JTH Costabella d.o.o., is due to open in between Opatija and Rijeka on Croatia’s north coast.
Located between well-known beach destination Opatija and the coastal town of Rijeka, the resort is ideally situated for leisure travellers. This area is renowned for its historical charm and is especially popular among German and Austrian tourists, who account for as much as 25% of all tourist arrivals to Croatia.
“Croatian tourism is experiencing a strong upward trend. According to the latest figures, Croatia welcomed more than 18 million arrivals in 2018, up 7% from the previous year. This is predicted to continue as tourists travel to destinations such as Rijeka and its surrounding resort towns, which have been designated the European Capital of Culture for 2020,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, Development, EMEA, Hilton. “Hilton Costabella Beach Resort and Spa will be one of the largest hotel developments in the region and is an exciting addition to our Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand in Europe.”

Construction has already started on the property, which will include 132 guest rooms and 66 apartments, all with balconies or terraces with views over the Adriatic Sea. Guests will also benefit from the hotel’s access to a private sandy beach, as well as extensive leisure and wellness facilities including two pools, a large spa, sports facilities and fitness centre. The resort will also feature six on-site restaurants, including a beach bar and rooftop restaurant where guests can enjoy the magnificent views over the Adriatic coastline.
