Hilton Expands European Capital City Presence To Belgrade
Hilton Belgrade Expected to Open 2018 in Central Location
BELGRADE, Serbia and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton Worldwide (NYSE:HLT) today announced plans to enter Serbia with the signing of a management agreement with Belaga Management Company D.O.O. The agreement paves the way for an upscale Hilton hotel in Serbia's capital city, Belgrade, and was announced during a construction ceremony in the city to confirm the news Sunday, April 17. The 242 guest room hotel will offer travellers world-renowned Hilton hospitality in a prime location in Belgrade's historic Old-town.
"Growing our presence in city destinations in Southeastern Europe has formed a significant part of our regional growth strategy, as Hilton Belgrade joins Hilton Worldwide hotels trading or in development in approximately 30 European capitals," said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, EMEA, Hilton Worldwide. "Expanding our portfolio to Belgrade will offer Hilton travellers an opportunity to experience one of the continent's most intriguing cities, which is fast-becoming a must-visit destination, whether arriving for leisure or as part of a business trip."
Historic Belgrade is seeing its fledgling art and cultural scene bring the city into renewed spotlight, making it an increasingly popular leisure destination, with direct connections to many European and Middle Eastern cities. The new-build seven storey Hilton Belgrade will be located in the city's Old-town and in close proximity to major sights such as Square Slavija, St. Mark's Church, the National Museum, Republic Square (Trg Republike) and the National Theatre. Also within easy reach will be government offices, financial institutions and major corporate offices.
Dragan Lazarevic, a representative of Belaga Management Company D.O.O. said, "We are honoured to be partnering with Hilton on this prestigious project, the first new-build hotel in Belgrade for several decades. I want to thank everyone that made this development possible as it will significantly contribute to the development and modernisation of our capital. I am proud of what we have achieved so far and look forward to welcoming our first guests in 2018."
For those looking for upscale accommodation, Hilton Belgrade will offer travellers comfortable and stylish surroundings, with a restaurant and bar on the ground floor and a rooftop drinking and dining space which will be one of the only rooftop spaces of its kind in the city. Guests will also be able to use and enjoy the hotel's fitness club, thermal facilities and executive lounge, along with retail space within the building.
"Hilton has long pioneered new destinations across the world, bringing its well-recognised hospitality to all corners of the globe," said, Andreas Lackner, regional head full service brand management, Hilton Worldwide. "This superb addition in Belgrade will enable travellers to visit this sought-out destination, whilst benefitting from all the hallmarks of Hilton hospitality."
Conferences and events facilities will include almost 1,000 square metres of meeting space, including pre-function facilities, a ballroom and several large function rooms - flexible space for both business and social events.
