Hilton Cleveland Downtown To Use Thousands Of Cuyahoga County Residents’ Snapshots In New Art Mural And Are Eligible To Win A Free Weekend Stay When Hotel Opens Next Year
CLEVELAND - The Hilton Cleveland Downtown, currently under construction and scheduled to open in June 2016, is asking Cuyahoga County residents to submit snapshots that will be used to create a unique art installation that will be on display at the new hotel when it officially opens next year. The request is simple: snap a picture of yourself in a place that is authentically Cleveland and upload it to myclevelandphoto.com.
"Our goal is for the faces of the Cuyahoga County community to come together to create a photo-mosaic that will be displayed in the lobby of the hotel," said Teri Agosta, general manager, Hilton Cleveland Downtown.
Ms. Agosta added that the hotel will give away a free weekend to one lucky person as an added bonus for having participated in the mural/mosaic project. "Use your phone, have fun and get creative," said Agosta. "This is a great opportunity for Cuyahoga County residents to lend their own personal touch to the creative fabric of our hotel design that will enhance its local art collection."
The planned photo mosaic art installation is part of a larger effort to weave locals into the fabric of Hilton Cleveland Downtown. Cuyahoga County is working with Kalisher, a nationally renowned hospitality art consulting company based in Carrboro, North Carolina. The task of Kalisher's Cleveland office is to curate and procure the hotel's entire art collection, including this art installation made up of local snapshots, and to feature as many custom and commissioned pieces from Cuyahoga County artists as possible. The result? The majority of the hotel art budget will be funneled into the creative community of Cuyahoga County.
"Sourcing art locally is important," said Jesse Kalisher, founder, president and CEO, Kalisher. "The artists in Cuyahoga County understand the story that needs to be told in the hotel. They live and breathe the city and their experiences permeate their creations. There's no better way for the new Hilton hotel to celebrate Cleveland than to feature folks from Cuyahoga County both in the art and as the artists behind the creations."
The photo-mosaic project gives everyone a chance to be represented in the art collection. Photo submission guidelines and contest rules can be found here: http://www.myclevelandphoto.com.
