Hilton Appoints Two New General Managers to Crystal City, Virginia Area Hotels

Crystal City, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) recently announced the appointments of Tom Mamalis as general manager of Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport — one of the latest additions to the Hilton Management Services portfolio — and Charles Hill as general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City. Both properties contribute to Hilton’s expanding Washington DC area and northern Virginia portfolio.

A seasoned hospitality veteran with over 17 years of experience in a general manager role, Tom Mamalis joins Hilton Crystal City from Hilton New Orleans Airport where he was the general manager since 2014. In Tom’s new position, he is responsible for overseeing the guest experience and hotel operations of the 386-room Hilton Crystal City.
From 2012 to 2014, he held the title of general manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Colorado Springs. Prior to joining Hilton, Tom was the general manager at the Marriott Waterford in Oklahoma City from 2009 to 2012. Throughout his career, he’s also held various roles with Interstate Hotels & Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, among others. Tom attended the business administration program at the University of Greece in Athens.

Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport is one of the latest additions to the Hilton Management Services portfolio this year and will undergo a $24 million renovation over the next couple of years.
The property is located near some of Washington DC’s top attractions, including downtown Washington DC, Georgetown, the National Monument and some of the destination’s top shopping and restaurants. The hotel provides visitors with an array of services and amenities, including 25,000 square feet of meeting space, inclusive of three ballrooms and 22 meeting and banquet rooms, a fitness center with indoor heated pool and a rooftop sundeck, business and self-serve shipping center and variety of dining options.

Charles Hill, general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City
With nearly 18 years of experience with Hilton, Charles Hill joins DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City from Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington, D.C. - Convention Center. In Charles’ new role at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Washington DC - Crystal City, he oversees the day-to-day operations and guest experience of the 627-room property featuring 34,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and several food and beverage outlets.
Charles began his hospitality career in 2002 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Tysons Corner as a front office supervisor before moving into sales. In 2005, he joined Embassy Suites by Hilton Washington, D.C. - Convention Center where he held various roles including assistant general manager and director of sales before eventually being promoted to general manager in 2013. Charles graduated from Virginia Tech University with a bachelor of science degree in Marketing Management.
