Hilton Darwin Hosts a Weekend High Tea at Home in Support of Cancer Council NT

DARWIN, Australia - Hilton Darwin has sold more than 100 high tea boxes to raise funds for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea in support of the Cancer Council NT.

Hilton Darwin’s sister properties, DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Darwin, have hosted a Poolside Garden Party for three consecutive years in support of the Cancer Council NT.  However, as social distancing restrictions due to COVID-19 have restricted the event to go ahead this year, Hilton Darwin has come up with an alternative way to continue to raise funds for the Cancer Council NT by preparing and selling a unique high tea experience delivered direct to guests’ door.

Hilton Darwin general manager, Markus Kaliss said the hotel was proud to support the Cancer Council NT this year despite the unprecedented health and economic crisis.

“As part of Hilton’s commitment to the community, we are very pleased to host an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea this year in an innovative and safe way and raise funds for the important work of the Cancer Council NT. This is a chance to come together as a community and acknowledge cancer patients and the additional challenges they are going through during this time of uncertainty.” he said.

All fundraising monies provided to the Cancer Council NT, remain in the Northern Territory to assist the Cancer Council to work directly with cancer patients in the Northern Territory.

Cancer Council NT provides support, prevention education and advocacy for cancer patients and their families. Much of the work of Cancer Council NT involves nurses providing one-on-one patient support and counselling. Assisting in practical matters like — wig and bra fittings, financial assistance, pro bono legal services and of course, our Ostomy Program providing services to ostomy clients all over the Northern Territory.
