Hilton Darwin Launches Digital Key Platform for Guests

DARWIN, Northern Territory - Hilton Darwin, a five-star hotel in the Northern Territory, has officially introduced Digital Key, a feature of the award-winning, Hilton Honors mobile app, providing members more choice and control over their entire travel experience. The addition of Digital Key now gives guests the option to bypass the check-in counter and access their room via the Hilton Honors mobile app.

“We know that our guests are looking for more choice and control over their entire travel journey and through digital tools, such as Digital Key and digital check-in with room selection, we are giving guests the ability to personalise their stay at Hilton Darwin,” said Markus Kaliss, general manager.

Six other Hilton properties in the Australasia region have already activated Digital Key, with a significant rollout throughout 2020 expected to take this number to 17 by year’s end.

Activated the day before arrival, Hilton Honors members who book direct with Hilton can select their desired room through the Hilton Honors mobile app via the digital check-in feature where they will be asked if they would like to use Digital Key during their stay. On the day of arrival and once their room is ready, guests will receive a notification via the Hilton Honors mobile app and will need to visit the front desk to verify that their Digital Key is enabled before heading to their room. When the guest approaches their guest room, they can simply press the virtual “unlock” button in the app to unlock the door.
