TOKYO, Japan - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the signing of a management agreement for the first Hilton Garden Inn in Japan. Inked in partnership with Godo Gaisha Kyoto Shijo Hotel Management, the hotel is scheduled to open in December 2022.
Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma will provide travelers with upscale and affordable accommodations featuring 250 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, a fitness room, and The Shop, a 24-hour, self-service retail space. The hotel will be located in central Kyoto, close to popular tourist attractions such as Gion, a tourist-favorite with its high concentration of traditional wooden machiya merchant houses, and Nijo Castle, a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the best surviving examples of castle palace architecture from Japan's feudal era.
Located within walking distance of shopping areas and the business district, the new hotel will serve as a convenient base for both leisure and business travelers. Home to many cultural landmarks and historical sites, Kyoto is considered the cultural heart of Japan, and its modern yet classical atmosphere attracts both domestic and international tourists.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of the first hotel under our focused service brand, Hilton Garden Inn, in Kyoto. This is the second hotel development inked by Hilton in Kyoto this year following our announcement on the signing of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts, which is scheduled to open in the fall of next year. Japan is a strategic market for Hilton and we are constantly looking to work with the right partner to bring the right brands into the country. We look forward to launching Hilton Garden Inn Kyoto Shijo Karasuma in 2022 which we are confident will be well received by travelers to Kyoto,” said Matt Fry, senior vice president, development, Asia Pacific, Hilton.
