NUNEATON and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced an agreement with Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and its strategic development partner – Queensberry – to open Hampton by Hilton Nuneaton. The 145-room hotel will be managed by Hilton, and construction is expected to start this summer, subject to planning approval. The hotel will form part of the Abbey Street mixed-use redevelopment that will include a residential component alongside workspaces, a large cinema complex, a food hall and landscaped public spaces.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said: “Hampton by Hilton Nuneaton is an important addition to this ambitious town center redevelopment, and will support the growth of Nuneaton as a regional business and leisure hub. Now, more than ever, hospitality can play a vital role in reinvigorating the high street, and we look forward to welcoming guests at the hotel, which joins more than 200 Hilton properties trading or under development across the UK and Ireland.”
Rob Hughes, development manager for Queensberry, said: “As the council’s strategic development partner, we are delighted that Hampton by Hilton is the confirmed hotel operator for this exciting mixed-use scheme and it demonstrates both confidence and commitment of Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and Hilton, an international brand, to this Abbey Street regeneration project. The hotel is a key anchor for the scheme, which includes a host of new uses to the area including residential, workspace, retail and leisure.”
Cllr Julie Jackson, leader of the Borough Council, said: “I am delighted to see this agreement come to fruition. I am in no doubt that the hotel will prove to be a great asset to the Abbey Street development and Nuneaton as a whole. We look forward to working with Hilton and Queensberry to progress the construction of the hotel over the coming months.”
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, leader of Warwickshire County Council, said: “This is exciting news and is further signs that the transformation of Nuneaton is gathering pace. It will bring jobs to the area and the complex will be an attractive asset to the town center, increasing its appeal to visitors and make it a hub of activity for residents. We want Nuneaton town center to be a place where everyone can enjoy spending time. This is another piece in that jigsaw.”
Hampton by Hilton Nuneaton will be one of the first UK hotels to feature Hampton by Hilton’s refreshed interior designs, including flexible social spaces. The hotel will be Hilton’s first hotel in Nuneaton, joining a portfolio of 100 Hampton by Hilton hotels across Europe, Middle East & Africa, including recent openings in Munich, Manchester and Madrid. Hampton by Hilton Nuneaton will join the award-winning Hilton Honors guest loyalty program, allowing more than 112 million members who book directly with Hilton to earn Points for hotel stays and experiences, plus instant benefits including contactless check-in with room selection, Digital Key and Connected Room.
