Duo of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels Planned in Turkey
Upscale brand set to grow its presence in Çanakkale and Eskisehir
CANAKKALE/ESKISEHIR, Turkey and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton Worldwide today announced an agreement which will facilitate the expansion of its DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio in Turkey, bringing new upscale properties to the regional cities of Çanakkale and Eskisehir.
DoubleTree by Hilton Canakkale and DoubleTree by Hilton Eskisehir are both scheduled to open in 2017, following a franchise agreement between Hilton Worldwide and Immotrust Gayrimenkul ve Alt Yapı Geliştirme Yatırım A.Ş. The new hotels will join seven DoubleTree by Hilton properties trading across Turkey, in locations including Istanbul, Izmir and Cappadocia.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, Europe & Africa, Hilton Worldwide said, "Turkey is enjoying sustained GDP growth and widespread industrialisation which is having a positive impact on regional business hubs, infrastructure investment, and business travel.
"Having been present in Turkey for 60 years, our upscale and mid-market brands continue to enter new cities and resorts throughout the country, and these two new hotels are the latest in a number of exciting new additions to our expanding DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio in Europe."
Situated in the north-western city of Eskisehir, DoubleTree by Hilton Eskisehir will provide elegant accommodation spread over 12 floors and 93 guest bedrooms, and will include a substantial 485 square metre ballroom catering for large receptions, alongside a number of smaller meeting rooms for business guests.
Eskisehir is known for its natural hot springs, which contribute to its appeal as a tourism destination and guests at DoubleTree by Hilton Eskisehir will be able to unwind in the hotel's natural thermal spa and indoor pool. Among its food and beverage offerings, the hotel will incorporate a spectacular rooftop terrace bar offering views of the city.
DoubleTree by Hilton Canakkale will be located within a broader, mixed-use scheme, plans for which include independent retail spaces, a number of food and beverage outlets and a relaxing spa for guests of the hotel. The new hotel will incorporate 201 upscale guest rooms, a 560 square metre ballroom and a further nine contemporary meeting spaces.
Çanakkale spans Europe and Asia, with land spread over the two continents. The city is famed for its rich history - the area has been home to civilisation for 3,000 years and is widely considered to be the location of the legendary city of Troy. Çanakkale is also home to the poignant memorials and battlefield sites of Gallipoli, and many visitors travel to the city in remembrance each year.
In addition to its rich historical importance, Çanakkale has emerged as a thriving business centre with a young, active population, and is home to many of Turkey's largest agricultural and industrial producers, including Icdas Steel, Icdas Electricity, and Akcansa Cement.
John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton said, "After a successful 2014 in Turkey in which we expanded our DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio with the addition of new hotels in Malatya and Izmir, it's a pleasure to be growing in many of Turkey's regional cities. DoubleTree by Hilton is famed for its unique service culture, and we are excited to welcome guests in Çanakkale and Eskisehir with our signature friendly service and warm chocolate chip cookie upon arrival."
