DoubleTree by Hilton Debuts in Sharjah with $43 Million Hotel
New build Sharjah Waterfront Hotel & Suites is set to welcome its first guests in 2020
SHARJAH, UAE and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has signed a management agreement with hospitality debutants Al Marwan Group to debut a new DoubleTree by Hilton property in Sharjah. DoubleTree by Hilton Sharjah Waterfront Hotel & Suites will offer 254 upscale suites and serviced apartments to visitors of the UAE's third largest city.
"Although less well known than its neighbors, the Emirate of Sharjah is a well frequented destination for industrial and GCC tourists," said Carlos Khneisser, vice president of development, Middle East & North Africa, Hilton. "Responsible for nearly half of the UAE's oil output, the Emirate is a buzz with international trade and traffic. Coupled with burgeoning demand from cultural GCC tourists, Sharjah is a prominent location to introduce our DoubleTree by Hilton brand."
Sharjah's history and heritage was recognised in 2014 when it was designated as the Capital of Islamic Culture. The historic old town is four kilometers from the hotel and its ancient souqs and excellent museums and mosques can keep those exploring on foot busy for several hours. DoubleTree by Hilton Sharjah Waterfront Hotel & Suites' large suites are well suited to the many GCC families that visit the Emirate every year.
"Hilton is the foremost hospitality company in the world and - with this terrific project and unbeatable location on the Al Majaz Waterfront - we look forward to embarking on our journey into the industry with them," said Marwan al Zaiem, Al Marwan Group."
DoubleTree by Hilton Sharjah Waterfront Hotel & Suites sits in a prime location in the centre of the city, opposite Al Majaz Waterfront. The Waterfront area is one of the Emirate's main tourist attractions and includes a wide scope of activities, from a splash park and mini golf course for families to quality dining and Al Majaz's famed spectacular night time fountain display. The hotel is conveniently located 13 kilometers from Dubai International Airport and 23 kilometers from Sharjah International Airport, the home of Air Arabia.
"From thoughtful touches and friendly service to our warm DoubleTree Cookie welcome, DoubleTree by Hilton offers the finest hospitality in the world," said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. "Coupled with the hotel's terrific facilities, this hotel will be one of Sharjah city centre's finest properties."
The hotel, which will include an all-day dining restaurant, lobby café, indoor pool, two gyms and treatment rooms, will be Hilton's second property in the Emirate following the Hilton Sharjah, which opened in 2011 and is situated on Corniche Road, overlooking Sharjah's biggest lagoon.
