Hilton to Debut in Alicante
Casa Alberola will mark Curio Collection by Hilton’s fourth hotel in Spain
“Alicante is increasingly popular with leisure and cultural tourists and is a testament to the demand for quality hotels in regions such as this in Spain,” said Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton. “Casa Alberola will be one of the few internationally branded hotels in Alicante and as a part of the Curio Collection by Hilton brand, will benefit from Hilton's 100 years of hospitality experience while maintaining all of its unique character.”
Designed by local architect José Guardiola Picó, Casa Alberola was constructed in 1894 in the neo-classical style with influences recalling Alicante’s maritime tradition and Mediterranean culture. The boutique hotel is recognisable by its distinctive dome-covered tower and is situated on the city’s promenade, where the region’s famous Fondillon wine was once exported across the world.
The hotel will feature 46 guest rooms with picturesque views of Alicante’s marina, as well as a restaurant and bar for guests and locals to enjoy.
“Casa Alberola is one of the most beloved buildings in Alicante and is a treasured landmark for local residents. We are excited to be partnering with Hilton on our first hotel project, transforming this iconic building into what will be one of the city’s finest hotels,” said Asunción Ujeda Paya, founder, Petición Balazs Companie S.L.
The hotel is surrounded by tourist attractions, which include the Santa Barbra Castle, Central Market, Gravina Museum of Fine Arts, MACA Contemporary Art Museum and Archaeological Museum of Alicante, making it the perfect base for leisure travelers. Alicante also has an abundance of quality urban and secluded beaches and a rich culinary tradition, with world class restaurants peppered in and around the city.
Casa Alberola joins three Curio Collection hotels trading in Spain and will complement the charming Gran Hotel Montesol Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton, vibrant Hotel Alexandra Barcelona and modern Higuerón Hotel Málaga, Curio Collection by Hilton, which is set to open later this year.
