Meet Mariah Miesel, Director of Revenue Management at DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore
Meet Mariah Miesel, Director of Revenue Management at DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore. She began her career in hospitality in 1998 and in 2010 joined the Hilton family as Front Office Manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore.
In her previous position as Revenue Analyst at Hilton Boston Back Bay, one of her daily tasks was to read and answer requests from guests staying at the hotel. One day, while reviewing the daily requests she had to do a double take! A note started with some usual asks - quiet room, high floor, etc., but then got very detailed. It read: "If possible, and totally no issue if not, it would make me feel so much more at home if there was a drawing in my room of Godzilla firing a bow and arrow at an apple on top of the head of a baby Godzilla, you know, William Tell-style. Obviously I don't expect you to fulfil this request but I will be super impressed if you even give it a go."
"It was just too quirky of a request, I had to do it!" said Mariah, "I love being able to spread the joy of hospitality to my guests, whether it is a high floor request, a 'Make it Right' request or in this case, a Godzilla request! I feel it is our job to honor all that we can and make guests' experience amazing from the beginning.
Mariah enlisted the help of her husband, a graphic designer, to create exactly what the guest asked for and make sure it was set up in the room along with some fruit, water and a welcome note.
Mariah didn't know it at the time, but the request came from frequent business traveler and communications strategist at Hotelchamp who has a tradition of asking hotels for a unique drawing of Godzilla. Few hotels have answered the call and Mariah's efforts really stood out. The story was featured in Business Insider along with mention of the above-and-beyond gesture from Mariah.
Since then, Mariah has returned to DoubleTree by Hilton Boston North Shore as Director of Revenue and currently trains new Group Coordinators on the importance of reading, responding and honoring guest requests.
"This was a great example of the power of having fun and creating a heartfelt experience!" she added.
Thank you Mariah, for going the extra mile to deliver exceptional hospitality – even in the form of a Godzilla drawing.
