Meet Jimmy Sarfraz, General Manager of Millennium Hilton
Meet Jimmy Sarfraz, General Manager of the Millenium Hilton located in Lower Manhattan in New York City.
Last week, Jimmy was honored with an Excellent Hospitality Leader Award of 2016 by the Hotel Chinese Association of USA, a non-profit organization geared towards advocating for equal rights in the workplace, advancing jobs within the hotel industry, and promoting involvement in community service. Jimmy and other Team Members of the hotel leadership attend the organization's gala and awards ceremony yearly, but this year marks the first time a Team Member of the property received a distinction.
"I'm really proud to accept this award from the Hotel Chinese Association," said Jimmy. "Our Team Members work really hard every week, all year and it's through their commitment and dedication to our guests that allow me to accept an honor like this."
"There is no Guest delight without Team Member delight," Jimmy is fond of saying. He exemplifies this through his commitment to create a work environment where his Team Members do not think of their role as 'just a job.' Jimmy works hard to ensure this morale is echoed through all the activities the hotel offers throughout the year in Team Member birthday celebrations, manager outings and daily interactions.
Jimmy, whose hospitality career spans over 20 years, is also a prime example of the opportunity Hilton offers its Team Members by having worked at properties in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
Team Members appreciate Jimmy's commitment to the Millenium Hilton family. Going above and beyond comes naturally to him whether it's from his daily interactions with the Housekeeping team or his conversations in the cafeteria with the Property Operations team. Because mentorship and professional growth are important to Jimmy, he makes it a priority to mentor Team Members interested in learning more about the hospitality industry. Over the past year, he has also been crucial in assisting the property in host high school interns from Futures and Options, a program which provides minority youths with the training and access they need to compete for jobs.
