Hilton Recognized for Sustainability Leadership by Dow Jones Sustainability Indices

MCLEAN, Va - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has once again been recognized for its global leadership in sustainability, earning inclusion on both the World and North America Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), the most prestigious ranking for corporate sustainability performance. This is the fifth consecutive year Hilton has been included in the indices. Hilton scored in the 100th percentile in its industry — an accomplishment that reflects the company’s continuous investment in building a best-in-class ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategy.

“Hilton was founded on the belief that travel can make the world a better place,” Kristin Campbell, executive vice president, general counsel & chief ESG officer. “We know that we have a unique role to play in addressing critical global challenges, and we are proud to serve as an engine of opportunity while also paving the way toward a more sustainable future for us all.”

As a key component of recovery from the global crisis, Hilton has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to its bold Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals to cut its environmental footprint in half and double its social impact. These goals, which were established in 2018, align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and drive Hilton’s positive impact through its operations, supply chain, and communities.

From an environmental perspective, Hilton is dedicated to fighting climate change and is proud to have been the first major hotel brand to set science-based carbon reduction targets in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. It is also making strong progress toward its goal of sending zero soap to landfills by 2030, with 88 percent of the company’s portfolio participating in soap recycling, including 100 percent of its North American hotels. Together, these properties have recycled enough soap to donate more than 16 million new bars to those in need. And as Hilton continues to drive positive progress across its value chain, it is working with suppliers and other partners to sustainably source key products throughout its global portfolio.

Now more than ever, the world is looking to the business community to provide innovative solutions to the biggest challenges of our time. Hilton’s commitment to Travel with Purpose will help protect the communities we call home, ensuring our destinations remain resilient and vibrant for future generations of travelers.
