MACAO - Conrad Macao, Cotai Central will join hundreds of organisations around the world on 22nd April to mark the 45th anniversary of Earth Day by launching a limited-edition Conrad Macao Bear in bright blue to represent the blue sky. Earth Day is an annual event that is organised by Earth Day Network (EDN) an international non-profit organisation that hopes to bring the poverty, development, climate and sustainability communities together to build awareness and create a more inclusive global movement. This year the organisers hope to have two billion people across 192 countries participate in Earth Day 2015, making it the largest civic observance in the world.
Supporting sustainability and eco programmes is a priority for Conrad Macao as part of Hilton Worldwide's commitment to Living Sustainably, one of the four pillars of the company's responsibility and sustainability strategy, Travel with PurposeTM. Other programmes that the hotel actively participates in include Earth Hour making it a bi-weekly event, switching off all non-essential lighting on the first and third Tuesday of each month as part of its green resolution to observe 'Earth Hour, Every Month'.
"By introducing an 'Earth Day' Bear Conrad Macao hopes to create awareness for worthwhile causes such as this with both our guests and team members alike, we all need to do what we can to help protect our planet," said Bede Barry, General Manager.
In addition to the Earth Day Bear, the 2015 collection of signature Bears and Ducks include a Chinese New Year bear, the 'Plush for Pink' bear in October to support Breast Cancer awareness, and in December, a spectacular sparkly bear just in time for Christmas.
