Conrad Seoul successfully completes the ‘Sharing Wednesday’ campaign in conjunction with World Vision
Conrad Seoul delivers KRW 12 million in funds collected from its patrons to World Vision Throughout the campaign, over 2,000 patrons were inspired to join.
SEOUL, South Korea - Conrad Seoul hosted a charity ceremony to celebrate a successful campaign partnership with international relief and development organization, World Vision. The ceremony, attended by General Manager of Conrad Seoul, Mark Meaney and the director of Western Seoul Regional Office of World Vision, Bong-sup Kim, celebrated the closing of the four-month 'Zest Sharing Wednesday' campaign, which has ran every Wednesday since commencing in July.
In partnership with World Vision, Conrad Seoul introduced a 'Zest Sharing Wednesday' campaign. Every Wednesday since July 2017, hotel patrons have continued to spread the sharing culture by participating in a 40% Zest discount on meals for those who donated either funds or food items to the sharing campaign. The monies raised will now be used by World Vision to advocate a water project in Mbuga, Tanzania and benefit local low-income families in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Over 2,462 patrons either contributed cash donations automatically gifted KRW 5,000 by touching their card on the payment pad at our partner World Vision's credit card station with a total KRW 12,310,000 raised (as of November 22nd, 2017). The World Vision Credit Card Station was set up at the second-floor entrance of the Zest restaurant, where donations of food items were also collected for distribution to the communities. All monetary donations will go directly to a Tanzanian village, Mbuga, to provide both adults and children with safer water and improved sanitation conditions. In addition, all the donated food will be given to low-income families living locally near Conrad Seoul.
During the ceremony, Mark Meany, General Manager of Conrad Seoul remarked "Foremost, I really want to extend a heartfelt appreciation to all of our patrons who joined us in on this campaign and to make it possible for us to present the warmest end-of-year gesture to our neighbors in need. We will continue to promote growth the communities we operate in and help towards building a sustainable society by helping economically-challenged families in under-developed communities around the world to improve upon their environmental and health conditions with the donations collected." Bong-sup Kim, Director of Western Seoul Regional Office of World Vision, also expressed his gratitude by saying "Personally, this is very meaningful for me to have experienced such a successful first campaign with Conrad Seoul. The hotel's far-reaching patrons have shown far-reaching and heartwarming generosity with all of their donations bringing the project's children hope and courage."
On April 14th, 2017, Conrad Seoul signed an agreement with World Vision to support children's dreams globally. Not only has Conrad Seoul continued its commitment towards having a well-rounded corporate responsibility, but the learning continues with the hotel hosting special lectures about sharing, conducting voluntary translation, arranging collection points for items needed by low-income families in Yeongdeungpo-gu, and advocating the Clean Water project in Mbuga, Tanzania. This campaign is part of a bigger Area Development Program to increase the community's self-reliance through a variety of projects to improve facilities in education, clean water, and nutrition.
