Conrad Manila Shares Best Practices
MANILA, Philippines - Conrad Manila was recently invited by members of the local tourism industry to share some of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) best practices in a two-day seminar held in Iloilo City, Philippines.
“We are honored to have been invited to share our CSR - Travel With Purpose campaigns and green practices which we hope could spark a more environmentally-conscious and community-focused mindset among our peers,” shared Angel Velasco, Marketing and Communications Manager, who attended the two-day event. “At Conrad Manila we are committed to sustainable practices when it comes to food, energy consumption and even the amenities that we offer, while also looking for avenues wherein we could help more people in terms of livelihood projects or feeding programs.”
Travel With Purpose is Conrad Manila’s corporate responsibility strategy to redefine and advance sustainable travel and tourism globally. It focuses on investing in communities to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth and reducing its environmental footprint through proper waste reduction, energy management and responsible sourcing.
“We are dedicated to doubling our investment in social impact and cutting our carbon consumption and waste in half by 2030, through responsible practices such as our “No Plastic” campaign wherein we use paper straws and serve water in glass carafes for events instead of in bottles,” added Laurent Boisdron, hotel General Manager.
Since its opening in June 2016, Conrad Manila has partnered with Rise Against Hunger to launch several meal packing activities in support of local communities. The hotel has also partnered with Diversey Philippines for its “Soap for Hope” campaign wherein the residents of Barangay Ususan, Taguig were taught how to hygienically recycle and re-purpose soaps donated by the hotel as a new means of livelihood.
Conrad Manila was recently recognized by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as the 2018 winner for Green Hotel and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) Hotel, making it the venue of choice for business, social events, and weddings.
