Canopy by Hilton Opens Doors in Minneapolis’ Mill District
The 183-room Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District offers energetic new feel in the east end of the Mill District
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton’s (NYSE:HLT) lifestyle brand Canopy by Hilton, in collaboration with Sherman Associates and DLR Group, today announced the opening of its first hotel in Minnesota, Canopy by Hilton Minneapolis Mill District. Located in the energizing East Town, the 183-room hotel is part of a large mixed-use development that includes residential and retail components and offers a pedestrian-friendly urban framework along Chicago Avenue from the Mississippi River to the Downtown East development.

Located at 708 Third Street South and previously home to the Advance Thresher/Emerson-Newton Implement Company, the 1900s building has been rejuvenated as a stunning hotel connecting guests to the best dining, culture, sports and nightlife in downtown Minneapolis. The property is located in the heart of the Mill District’s most popular area and offers guests easy access to the Guthrie Theater, Mill City Museum and the new U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. Hotel guests are also within steps to the temperature-controlled Skyway system and the light rail, making it a quick ride of the Mall of America, University of Minnesota campus, downtown St. Paul and other popular areas.

Converting it has really been a labor of love,” said DLR Group Principal Ed Wilms, AIA, who leads the firm’s Hospitality Studio in Minneapolis. “The resulting design is one that both preserves the building’s heritage and offers guests a truly modern, energizing atmosphere in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.”
Canopy Minneapolis Mill District offers 183 Just-Right rooms, all which are designed for ease and comfort. The canopy over the bed creates an ideal sleeping environment along with each room’s Serta mattress, which is complemented with a ZoneActive™ 5-Zone Foam Topper for the right amount of support and Serta Cool Balance® Technology for optimal temperature control. Other room amenities include digital check-in, heated bathroom floors, Canopy’s signature “uncloseted” closet, a 55-inch TV, a Nespresso® machine, generous workspace and complimentary Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s exterior combines brick with terra cotta detailing, helping to clearly define the building’s upper and lower levels. The interior consists of heavy timber construction, exposed wood ceilings and a central atrium that joins the two structures together, filling the space with daylight.
