Brand to Make its U.K. Debut in City of London with £76m Hotel Development
LONDON and MCLEAN, VA - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) unveils plans to bring Canopy by Hilton, its hotel brand that redefines the lifestyle category, to the United Kingdom with Canopy by Hilton London City. Following a franchise agreement with 4C Hotel Group, Canopy London City will welcome its first guests in early 2018.
The launch of the new London City hotel, located in Aldgate, will follow the opening of the world’s first Canopy by Hilton in Reykjavik, Iceland, this summer. In London specifically, the Canopy property will join more than 35 hotels across the city within the Hilton portfolio*.

Situated at 16 Minories, the new Canopy hotel will be adjacent to the historic Roman and medieval city walls. Guests will be able to walk to London’s buzzing East End in under 20 minutes, an area bursting with stylish boutiques and some of the city’s best nightlife, giving the area a reputation of being one of Europe’s trendiest urban neighbourhoods.

Construction is already underway on the mixed use development, which features an impressive metal clad façade. The Minories development will feature a new city square, a public green garden, an office building and a new residential building alongside the Canopy by Hilton Hotel. The interior design of Canopy by Hilton London City will draw on the legacy of the Whitechapel Gallery and the melting pot of cultures in the surrounding area.
A key feature of the Canopy brand is Canopy Central, the ground floor lobby designed to reflect the neighbourhood. Additional dining options will include a hotel restaurant serving fresh, healthy, and locally inspired dishes, while an atmospheric rooftop bar will offer unbeatable views and evening tastings of local craft beer and wine. Wi-Fi and an artisanal breakfast will be included in the room rate, and guests will receive a welcome gift on arrival inspired by the City of London. The hotel will also include meeting rooms and a fitness centre for guests to enjoy.
