3 Hilton Properties Leading the Way with Eco‑Friendly Travel in 2022

Hilton properties prioritize solar energy, eco‑conscious activities and sustainable cooking

Eco-friendly travel is a rising trend that’s expected to continue into 2022, with travelers seeking to reconnect with nature — while staying in environmentally respectful accommodations.

Many Hilton properties have taken steps to reduce energy and water usage, choose green building materials for their design, or offer sustainably sourced menu items.  These three eco-conscious hotels are poised to take eco-friendly travel to the next level in 2022.

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal to debut ‘Neutral’ reduced-waste coffee shop in early 2022

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal has featured an ocean-to-table dining concept for years at its restaurant, El Farallon, by partnering with certified farms, fish providers, and local organic markets. The hotel will expand its sustainability efforts through the debut of Neutral, a reduced-waste coffee experience, that is set to open in early 2022. Neutral will offer guests an elevated coffee experience with varieties from around the world. While guests enjoy different coffee blends, an expert is available to share information on reduced waste, nature-conscious, sustainable environments, origins, methods, and the people behind the bean.

Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection will open as the ‘first net-zero hotel in the U.S.’ in 2022

Hotel Marcel New Haven, Tapestry Collection will make history in early 2022, by opening its doors as the first net-zero hotel in the United States. Rooftop solar panels and solar parking canopies will fuel 100 percent of the hotel’s power, heating and cooling, plus hot water for the hotel’s kitchen and laundry facilities. The hotel’s design also combines eco-consciousness with guest comfort by offering triple-glazed windows that will provide efficient insulation and noise reduction, and blackout window shades to offer better sleep while reducing lighting energy requirements by 30%. Guests can also pick up sustainable snacks at the hotel’s grab n’ go location or recharge their electric vehicle at the hotel’s 12 Tesla Superchargers or level-two EV chargers.

Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo to reduce paper waste in 2022

Baker’s Cay Resort Key Largo has welcomed guests with an impressive list of eco-friendly touches for years. This includes a “Dock to Dish” fishing program that demonstrates the value of ocean-to-table dining, an on-site eco-educator who leads nature walks, a gift shop full of eco-friendly goodies (such as ocean-safe sunscreen, swimwear made from recycled water bottles, and 100-percent recycled toys), and sustainable in-room amenities like rice paper- and avocado pit-straws, canvas laundry bags, and reusable aluminum bottles that benefit the locally operated Coral Restoration Foundation. In 2022, the resort will make an effort to eliminate paper waste by reducing and consolidating the number of materials that guests receive and adopting the use of wooden keys and cardboard pens.
