Hilton Worldwide Invites Customers to Get Hands On in the Community Today

Nearly 700 To Volunteer Across San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando, Washington, D.C. and Jersey City, N.J.

MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton Worldwide sales team members are inviting customers in seven major markets - Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando and Jersey City, N.J. - to get Hands On in the community today after a busy week of meetings.

In partnership with each city's HandsOn Network affiliate, an enterprise of Points of Light, nearly 700 volunteers will participate in projects identified by HandsOn Atlanta, Jersey Cares, Chicago Cares, HandsOn Bay Area, HandsOn Greater DC Cares, HandsOn Orlando and Right Hand Events that will benefit inner city youth and youth with disabilities.

"Our partnership with HandsOn Network allows our team members to Travel with Purpose and be active in the communities where they work, live and travel," said Jennifer Silberman, vice president, corporate responsibility, Hilton Worldwide. "Our hotels play a vital role in the communities where we serve and we are always looking for volunteer opportunities to get our workforce, guests and customers involved."

Volunteer activities will vary by location and may include:

  • beautifying elementary school grounds with landscaping, planting flowers, mural painting and outdoor seating;
  • creating play areas for children with sidewalk games such as four square and hopscotch;
  • revitalizing school playgrounds with color;
  • leading a field day of sports and interactive games to encourage health and wellness;
  • creating dream pillow cases for youth to illustrate future hopes and dreams; and
  • hosting an environmental craft fair to stress the importance of caring for the planet
