Hilton London Bankside was hand-picked by Hilton’s in-house architecture and design team to take part in a podcast series and highlight the fascinating history and design of the property, which reflects the Bankside’s industrial heritage and the neighbouring Tate Modern. The podcast points out some of the hotel’s quirky design features, including the concrete effect tile flooring in the lobby which evokes the famous Turbine Hall.
Hilton Paris Opera is steeped in tradition and its prime location in one of the world’s great cities made it a natural choice for the podcast series. Initially finished in 1889, the hotel underwent a €46 million renovation which was completed in January 2015. Upon its original opening, Hilton Paris Opera offered 500 rooms and featured some of the latest technological innovations such as telephones and elevators, and was in fact the first ever hotel to be supplied with electricity.
The Reichshof Hamburg was chosen for the podcast project because of its remarkable history and unique architectural heritage. The hotel was originally designed by architect Heinrich Mandix in the reform style with baroque and classical references, with the first stone laid in 1906. The art deco building was completed in 1910 before undergoing a €30 million renovation in 2015.
