Nathan Levine was recently recognized with a 10-year service award for his work in the kitchen at Hilton Austin. A great achievement for any Team Member, but for Nathan it is especially impressive because he has severe autism. Despite not being able to communicate verbally and facing other challenges, Nathan loves his job and is excited to start his shift every morning.
Hilton Austin is committed to making a positive impact on the community by creating opportunities for people who need them most. Nathan began his career journey working two hours once a week, and now works 20 to 30 hours a week. His commitment to the Hilton Austin team has given him the opportunity to do some truly meaningful work. In fact, in 2012, the Austin Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities named him Employee of the Year.
Nathan has made a great impact on the differently-abled community in Texas. His story, which was covered in local media, has given other companies throughout the state the confidence to extend employment opportunities to people like Nathan and provided a blueprint of how to make that relationship successful.
Nathan's family, who advocates on behalf of individuals with disabilities, are delighted that Hilton Austin gave Nathan the opportunity to be an active member of his community.
"People with disabilities can thrive in the workplace," said Nathan's mother, Linda. "But they need a chance to prove it."
Thank you, Nathan for helping to make Hilton the most hospitable company in the world.
