Meet Maria Muniz, Ivonne Castillo, Georgie Feller and Vanessa Hailes who are all Hilton working moms.

The Story

Maria Muniz‍, Administrative Assistant for the Global Head of DoubleTree by Hilton brand has worked with Hilton for almost 9 years. Known as "Mama Maria" in the office due to her kind and caring nature, she is also actually a mother to Team Member, Gabi Muniz.

One of her most memorable moments of working at Hilton was seeing her eldest graduate in Hospitality from George Mason University interning at Hilton's corporate office with the Full Service Brand Hospitality team and the feeling of pride when Gabi accepted a first full time corporate job at Hilton with the Focused Service Brand Marketing team almost two years ago.

Muniz believes that working at Hilton has allowed her to have that flexibility to spend time with her family and share great memories at Hilton with her family.

"Having Gabi work nearby has been pure bliss as a parent. I see her establishing herself as her own person at what she does best within her career and knowing that she will one day accomplish more than I can possibly imagine," Muniz said.

Ivonne Castillo‍, HR Director at Conrad Cartagena has worked for Hilton over 8 years and has had the opportunity to work at different properties and in countries such as Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Trinidad and Panama.

According to Castillo's young daughter Samantha, Hilton is "the best" and she loves the brand and believes in Hilton as much as Ivonne does. She also plans to work for the company when she grows up.

While balancing her work and family life, Ivonne has managed to still be a high achiever. She's been recognized for her different accomplishments at Hilton with several different awards including Hilton's Circle of Excellence in Learning and Development, Best Practice Recognition Calendar for the HR Department and Best Practices Team Member Travel Agency.

"Hilton allows me to be myself, to try different and extraordinary things, to have the same purpose in life and in my job, to be crazy, enjoy the diversity of people, keep moving and enjoy life," Castillo said.

Georgie Feller‍, Director of Operations at Waldorf Astoria Chicago has been with Hilton for almost 12 years. As her career has evolved, so has her life circumstances. After returning back from maternity leave, she had reservations about coming back to work and leaving her newborn baby. Her fears of returning and facing what every parent does – balancing work responsibilities with the flexibility to be there for her children were quickly eased by her Hilton family. She realized she was part of a bigger "Hilton village" helping her navigate parenthood.

Feller chose to be a working mother and is proud of her decision. "I will continue on this path of building my career, as I am sure my perseverance will teach my kids a valuable lesson someday. It is a choice I make every day over and over again not because I have to, but because I am not in this alone. I have a partner that makes the same commitment to show up for me every day and a company that chooses me AND my family over many other priorities."

Vanessa Hailes‍, Hilton Reservation Customer Care Work from Home Reservation Sales Specialist has worked with Hilton for 3 years. Not only is she a Hilton Team Member but also a military spouse and  mother of two. With the challenges that face every working parent, the added complex transitions that military spouses endure, can make balancing work and life that much harder. Hailes is grateful to work for a company like Hilton that has provided her so much flexibility and support throughout major challenges and changes her family often endures.

"When we recently received orders to move from North Carolina to Florida, the least challenging part of the chaos was Hilton's support and flexibility to allow me ample time to relocate and get settled.  It is an incredible sense of security knowing that the last thing I had to worry about was my job, when usually that is the primary stressor of military spouses," Hailes said.

As mom of a toddler and a newborn, work-life balance is a huge priority in her household.

Hailes has not only been in Reservations Services but serves as a Military Spouse Ambassador where she shares her experiences as military spouse and Hilton Team Member to other military spouses looking for a great opportunity that fits their unique lifestyle. "It's one thing to work with others and explain how much this company supports military veterans and spouses, but it's completely different being the one to experience it. I am so thankful I have been able to be a part of this company which has proven, to me personally, how much they truly support our military," Hailes said.
